Temporary Visas-Electronic Travel Authority (Visitor) Visa (Subclass 976)

A visa that entitles the holder to stay in Australia only for a limited period of time

Electronic Travel Authority visas (ETAs) are for people who are outside Australia and want to visit Australia for holidays, tourism, recreation, and informal studies or training. ETA visas are designed to encourage tourism to Australia by computerising the application process. There are three ETA types:

ETA (Visitor) subclass 976
ETA (Business Entrant - Short Validity) subclass 977
ETA (Business Entrant - Long Validity) subclass 956

Applicants can apply for ETAs visas in person, in writing, by fax, on the computer or even by phone. However, only citizens of approved countries are eligible to be granted an ETA. See the table below for a list of the approved countries
